About LAIAD Mission Statement: The Los Angeles Institute of Architecture and Design (LAIAD) is a small private architecture school founded in 2001 to provide an alternative way for students to begin their education in architecture or interior design. Our mission is to provide an unsurpassed and affordable education for a small group of talented and motivated students who will be prepared to excel at the schools they transfer to or enroll in.

Downtown Los Angeles' El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument (125 Paseo de la Plaza) features several Spanish Mission-style historical buildings around a plaza. The focal point of the area, which is now officially a protected State Park, is the Avila Adobe, the city's oldest building, off of which runs Olvera Street, a pedestrian street full of mariachi bands, Mexican food and craft stands, and folk dancing.
