Your chairs actually a mix or Early American Slat back & Banister back style chairs produced in the mid 1700's and Mission style chairs produced Circa 1910. Most pieces of this type were produced during the first quarter of the 20th Century, a time when many furniture manufacturers were experimenting with mixing older period styles to come up with something new for a market tired of heavy overcarved Victorian furniture.
This banister-back arm chair, owned by Deerfield's Hoyt family in the Old Indian House, started life as a side chair in the late 18th century. The short arms were added sometime in the 19th century.

The cane seat with incised carved rails over a fore rail pierced and carved with conforming crown and leafy scrolls, uniting turned and moulded horse bone front legs, terminating in ball feet.
Turners used a lathe to produce great numbers of this type of banister-back chair over a long period of time in Deerfield, Massachusetts , and throughout New England. The banisters of this chair are split spindles rather than the simpler slats, and the four banister turnings match the rear posts of the chair.
