In its fits and starts and restless changes of pace, Tusk inevitably recalls the Beatles' "White Album" (1968), the quirky rock jigsaw puzzle that showed the Fab Four at their artiest and most indecisive.

I've said it before & I'll say it again:"Rhino do the best reissues." This two-disc take on Fleetwood Mac's Tusk is far superior to the prior-budget price version, which edited the sublime joy that was Sara. The first disc takes in the original Tusk double-album & adds a single-mix of Sisters of the Moon; while the second disc takes in earlier versions/alternate takes/outtakes relating to the recording of Tusk and is worth buying for these stunning curios.
Tusk Album Notes This deluxe edition of Tusk includes a bonus disc featuring roughs, outtakes and demos. Fleetwood Mac: Lindsay Buckingham (vocals, guitar); Christine McVie (vocals, keyboards, synthesizer); Stevie Nicks (vocals); John McVie (bass); Mick Fleetwood (drums, percussion).

Fleetwood Mac's TUSK took a beating from the same public and critics that had so adored their earlier RUMORS, which remains one of the most popular releases in recording history. But time has been particularly kind to TUSK, and where RUMORS remains Fleetwood Mac's penultimate pop statement, TUSK now plays as the band's penultimate "art rock" statement.
De Gitarist (04/1998), Fleetwood Mac's John McVie didn't stop < John McVie < Main Page De Gitarist (04/1998), Fleetwood Mac's John McVie didn't stop Penguin De Gitarist, April 1998 Fleetwood Mac's John McVie didn't stop By Tanya Almor Gambale With their new/old album "the Dance" the men and women of Fleetwood Mac are making good money. But did they also bury the hatchet? Tanya Almor Gambale meets the man who put the Mac in Fleetwood. He's just a bass player. That's what John McVie will tell you. Yes, what he'd really say to you is: "I'm a boring old fart of a bass player…" But, as one of the members of the very first hour he has supported the music of Fleetwood Mac the past thirty years with some very recognizable basslines -- in the longest running soap opera of the modern age. He survived multiple personelchanges, fights and nervous breakdowns. He has been through the best and worst of a group that sold more than 70 million albums. But the story of John McVie begins long before this success… Bluesbreaker In 1963 John McVie started to play with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, a band generally seen as responsible for the birth of the British electric blues. A lot of Bluesbreakers became true followers of the blues: people like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Jack Bruce and Andy Fraser.

Rolling Stone (03/04/1982), Mayall Re-forms Bluesbreakers < John McVie < Main Page Rolling Stone (03/04/1982), Mayall Re-forms Bluesbreakers Penguin ROLLING STONE --- MARCH 4, 1982 MAYALL RE-FORMS BLUESBREAKERS John McVie and Mick Taylor called me up and said, 'Why don't we go on the road again? You know, rock it out like we used to do," said forty-eight-year-old John Mayall, the celebrated father of the British blues, explaining what led to a month-long reunion of John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers in January. "Basically, there was a space between Fleetwood Mac's schedule and Mick's schedule, and I put it together." Of course, that's not exactly what the reviews of the band's first reunion gig (at the Stone in San Francisco) said; those in attendance heard a sloppy, disorganized aggregation, who began the classic "Room To Move" in three different keys. "Thanks for coming to our first rehearsal," quipped ex-Rolling Stone Taylor, who did turn in some yeoman guitar work. "It's funny, and that's the way to treat it," said Mayall after the date.

more Fleetwood Mac Tusk About This Album Where Rumours achieved greatness through turmoil, its double-album follow-up, Tusk, is the sound of a band imploding. Lindsey Buckingham began to assume control of Fleetwood Mac during the Rumours sessions, but he dominates Tusk, turning the album into a paranoid roller coaster ride where sweet soft rock is offset by feverish cocaine fantasies.

While the subsequent Rumours is the group's peak, Fleetwood Mac is a remarkably accomplished debut.

Fleetwood Mac: The Buckingham-Nicks Years Strongest album: Rumours Weakest album: Tango in the Night This page is not an attempt to cover the entire career of Fleetwood Mac, but only one portion of their career: their recorded output between 1975 and 1987. The reason for this is simple.
