The present work is a study carried out at Computer Aided Design Laboratory, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK) to record and archive morphological features of artifacts from past cultures.
The artists and engineers in a daily Question and Answer format will demonstrate information pertaining to 3D Modeling, CAD, Scanning, and Reverse Engineering. During this time a variety of software will be shown off to the inquisitive. 3D Scanners will have their portable High Definition Scanner (Model W) on sight to use.
A quick start booklet (but the primary documentation is an Acrobat PDF document on the driver CD) and a flyer illustrating accessories. As a USB-powered device, no power brick is necessary.

The Simultaneous Capture of Spectral and Textural Information D. John Redman, Hewlett-Packard Company; and Mark Mudge, Cultural Heritage Imaging (USA) Abstract: Several art institutions have recently been interested in capturing spectrally accurate color images of their fine art collections.
3D Metrics 3DMetrics' mission is to be the world standard in precision 3D imaging and measurement technology for live subjects.; This 3D flash projects a color-coded grid pattern onto an object, effectively encodes a 3D object into a 2D image when it is fired by an ordinary digital camera. The whole encoding process can be less than 0.005 second.
Artist Statement: By working as collaborators, artists and scientists can make art that communicates our shared interests. Digital imaging provides the perfect vehicle for such collaborations, both because of the speed that the medium allows.

About the Collection: A remarkable visual source - not yet explored - these mostly unpublished and little known architectural drawings and sketches by Marcel Breuer (1902 1981), architect, designer and Bauhaus legend who was named one of the "Form Givers" of Modernism have now been made available online. The drawings were donated to Syracuse University Library by Breuer's widow a few years before her death (2002) to augment the Library's already established premier collection of Marcel Breuer Papers.

The CHALLENGE of DIGITAL SCULPTURE: Or How to Become Better Tool Users. by Dan Collins, Associate Professor of Art, Arizona State University This paper was first given at the 6th Biennial Symposium on Art and Technology, Connecticut College, February 27 - March 2, 1997 Introduction Digital sculpture draws upon recent advances in data acquisition techniques, computer visualization, and rapid prototyping technologies.
3D IMAGING 3D imaging comes of age David Robson tracks the progress of 3D image processing Imaging and Machine Vision Europe : October/November 2006 3D image processing has seen a steady increase in usage over the past 10 years. It is hoped that the formation of a new standards committee, announced this July by ASTM International, one of the largest voluntary standards development organisations (SDO) in the world, will further this progress. 3D imaging systems are used to rapidly capture three-dimensional information of a scene or object.

News/Events DDI Press Release - For Immediate Release - April 2004 21st Century 3D Scanning Techniques Used to Re-Create Historical Monument What: Owings Mills-based Direct Dimensions, Inc. is using proprietary processes to accurately scan and recreate the historic monument at The Monumental Church in Richmond, VA.
Functionality The purpose of a 3D scanner is usually to create a point cloud of geometric samples on the surface of the subject. These points can then be used to extrapolate the shape of the subject (a process called reconstruction ).

Blogs > Design Why Artists Are Different By David Battino June 4, 2007 A sculptor I know likes to say, "Art is a hammer knocking at your eyeballs." Architect Robert Venturi described one of his approaches as "contradiction juxtaposed." Amy X Neuburg, here live at EXIT Theatre, juxtaposes fiery operatic vocals with electronic audio loops. Grey Scale Imaging Performance Published : 20th May 2005 In our industry, we constantly decry the absence of "standards", especially in HD imaging and recording formats. Yet when we talk about what should be the basic simple terminology of our business, there are some terms which have wildly different meanings based on context or purpose.
