JAXONBILT HAT CO . has re-created cowboy hats of the most famous western movies.
But for Wyatt Earp's arrival in Tombstone, Arizona Territory, in December, 1879, the ultimate fate of the "The Town Too Tough to Die" made famous in so many books and motion pictures, may have been different: while Tombstone exists because of prospector Ed Schieffelin, the town persists because of Wyatt Earp and his singular exploits on the Arizona frontier of the early 1880's. Although known in certain circles as an efficient if undistinguished peace officer in the Kansas cow towns of Wichita and Dodge City, and a part-time gambler or "sporting man," the Wyatt Earp who landed in Tombstone near the beginning of the silver boom was a man of no national reputation; even so, he commanded a certain cheerful dread among his associates.

A Night to Remember 4:38 PM PST, January 18, 2008 A Night to Remember On July 31, 2007 I wrote a So Youd Like To article entitled From Whence the Wind Came. The first paragraph reads: McDonough Road, Jonesboro and the night Atlanta burned were all part of Margaret Mitchells Gone With the Wind. They also had a place in a story I was researching and writing, The Life and Times of John Henry Holliday. The scene I was working on took place at Jonesboro on the night Atlanta burned and one of the characters involved was Philip Fitzgerald, a great uncle of Mattie Holliday John Henrys romantic interest in the story. A closer look at that scene in Jonesboro adds Mattie Hollidays mother Mary Anne, more of Atlanta burning and chaos in Jonesboro. The citizens of Jonesboro stood in their front yards and watched horsemen of the Confederate Cavalry race through the streets and listened to the thunder of war as the battle for the city of Atlanta raged on.
