Although known in certain circles as an efficient if undistinguished peace officer in the Kansas cow towns of Wichita and Dodge City, and a part-time gambler or "sporting man," the Wyatt Earp who landed in Tombstone near the beginning of the silver boom was a man of no national reputation; even so, he commanded a certain cheerful dread among his associates.

The citizens of Jonesboro stood in their front yards and watched horsemen of the Confederate Cavalry race through the streets and listened to the thunder of war as the battle for the city of Atlanta raged on.

Quoted from oldtimer45 UPDATE: Yes some years ago his family did come to Glenwood to take his remains back, but as mentioned, there was a mudslide and the exact location of his grave was never known. Today, there is a marker, tombstone if you will, but that is merely for Glenwood Springs "image" to let it known that Doc did die and was (or is) burined here.
