Over the years several methods and special tools have been devised to stop squeaky floors. Several of the more popular ideas revolve around the use of screws used to pull the subfloor back down to the joist.

Re: Gluing Pergo to subfloor William, Would you supercharge a Yugo? Why in the world would you glue down a product that's designed to be used and then thrown away? Don't get me wrong.... pergo has it's place.... as a temporary floor installation..... in an area that is going to get ruined and real hardwood would be wasteful... IMO, if you're going to go through with this, install a sacrificial underlayment such as 1/4" ply lightly nailed over 30 lb felt.... so that when the time comes to rip it out, you won't be killing yourself prying up the pergo off of the subfloor. Might want to look into a cork base.... I hear that it helps with the hollow sound.
